Festsaal Messe, Basel, Switzerland, November 12th, 2007.

This is a live recording of the fifth showcase that Mark Knopfler did to promote his new album "Kill to get Crimson". After Berlin, Madrid, Amsterdam, and London, the AVO Session Basel has the honour of being his host festival. The tickets were not sold, but could only be won in contests on TV, the internet and on several radio stations. On 24th December, Swiss radio DRS3 broadcasted the complete showcase. During the broadcast, there were some radio jingles between a few songs. Only to remove these jingles, the source from the earlier broadcast (13th November on Swiss radio channel DRS3) was used. These two sources combined result in a great 10 track recording which features the complete showcase. Soundboard recording with good sound quality.

  1. Awesome! Came here after watching it on Sky Arts this week. Now going to his concert in Brighton next year. One question if you know the answer, who are (were) the supporting band members?

  2. Unfortunately I don't know the other guys (watching "Brothers in Arms" right now), but I can say that while they mightn't have been playing to their best potential, everything they did was just perfect. For example, the drummer was mainly drilling the beat, but watch carefully and he has beautifully timed "rim" shots, etc. It's the sum of the (excellent) parts plus yer man's playing that makes this the best live set I've ever seen.

    1. Hi Dave,
I agree with you, fantastic, the groove on Song for Sonny Liston you never want to get out of,the Drums fantastic, there all on the money.
      Kevin Molloy

  3. The drummer is Danny Cummings and the keyboard is played by Guy Fletcher. Both commented on Knopfler in a BBC4 documentary shown 28/01/2011 entitled "A Life in Songs". It was a very interesting summary of Knopfler's career from English Graduate through international star.

I don't know the other players, sorry.

  4. Podrían por favor re subir el link de descarga???? por favor, es un concierto tan lindo.

  5. Absolutely great | good music :-) phb
